Backup/ghost hệ điều hành Linux/CentOS bằng Mondo Rescue

Mondo Rescue là một tool backup & recovery miễn phí cho hệ điều hành Linux có thể giúp bạn.
1. Backup thành ISO image và lưu vào CD, DVD, USB, Hard disk và NFS (Network file system)
2. Thực hiện backup ngay trong hệ điều hành đang chạy
3. Có thể backup full system hay chỉ 1 partition bạn muốn
4. Khôi phục nhanh chóng từ ISO vào máy khác.

Có thể hình dung tool này giống như các tool Ghost nổi tiếng bên hệ điều hành Windows.


Ở đây mình chỉ mô tả các bước để nắm được cơ bản trên Cent OS, chi tiết xin xem link đính kèm.
Step 1: Tải MondoRescue
Trong terminal của CentOS, tải MondoRescue bằng cách thêm respority vào file “/etc/yum.repos.d/”

# cd /etc/yum.repos.d/

## On RHEL/CentOS/SL 6 - 32-Bit ##
# wget ftp://ftp.mondorescue.org/rhel/6/i386/mondorescue.repo

Step 2: Cài Mondo
Dùng yum để cài mondo

# yum install mondo

Step 3: Chạy Mondo
Chạy mondo bằng root user và bắt đầu quá trình tạo backup ISO image

# mondoarchive

Step 4: Tạo ISO backup
Tiến hành các bước tạo ISO theo các màn hình wirard như dưới đây, chú ý thời gian backup có thể đến hàng giờ.

1.Please enter the full path name to the directory for your ISO Images. For example: /mnt/backup/

2. Select Type of compression. For example: bzip, gzip or lzo.

3. Please exclude the filesystem that you don’t want to backup (separated by “|“). For example: “/tmp” and “/proc” are always excluded or if you want full backup of your system, just hit enter.

4. Creating a catalog of “/” filesystem.

5. Dividing filelist into sets.

6. Calling MINDI to create boot+data disk.

7. Running “mkisofs” to make ISO Image.

8. Finally, Mondo Archive has completed. Please hit “Enter” to back to the shell prompt. You will see an ISO image under “/var/cache/mondo/“, that you can burnt into a CD/DVD for later restore.

Step 5: Restore vào máy khác

Để restore lại hệ thống, sử dụng ISO image trên và boot hệ thống.

Ở boot prompt, gõ "nuke" để tiến hành restore hệ thống.
